Milton Lodge Rest Home

Reception Areas

There are two large lounges on the ground floor. The lounges are tastefully decorated with comfortable high-back chairs, small tables, foot stools, smart television and DVD player.

The home has a large dining room on the ground floor which opens on to an outside decking area. The residents normally have their meals in the dining room.

Our bedrooms are tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard. All bedrooms have safety features including smoke detectors, 24-hour call systems and covered radiators. There are ample toilet facilities on all floors. The home has a shower room and a bathroom, which are fitted with facilities to make them suitable for those residents with mobility difficulties. A couple of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms are easily accessible via the four person passenger lift.

At Milton Lodge our activities coordinator engages the residents in a wide range of activities that they really enjoy. We also have a regular singer that performs for the residents at the home.  The daily activities include dominoes, singing, reminiscing, sherry afternoons, sitting in the lovely garden and accompanied walks and trips out. Friends and relatives are also welcome to participate in our activities.

There are also a number of annual events which we celebrate. These include residents’ birthdays, St. Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year.

We have a visiting hairdresser and chiropodist who regularly attend the home. Visiting clergy hold services in the home and volunteers from local churches take residents to services.

Milton Lodge has a beautiful garden with a delightful lawned area at the front of the home. The garden has a variety of flowers and shrubs where, during the summer months, the residents can enjoy the sunshine and the breath-taking sea air. There is also an enclosed private garden area at the rear of the home which is furnished with tables and chairs. Great care has been taken to ensure that the garden is accessible to wheelchair users to allow enjoyment for everyone. There is also an enclosed decking area, which can be accessed directly from the dining room. This is a very popular place for the residents to sit on sunny days.

Residents are able to choose where they would like to have their meals; either in the tastefully decorated dining room, or alone in their rooms if they wish. All meals are carefully planned by our chef to be both nutritious and appetising. A choice of menu is available at each meal and special diets can be catered for. Each meal is freshly prepared using only the finest ingredients. Our menu is both wholesome and varied, providing a well balanced diet.                                    Tea, coffee and a selection of soft drinks and homemade cakes and biscuits are served at various times throughout the day.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality accommodation and individual care. Great emphasis is placed on the personal independence, dignity and quality of life of each resident. The foremost concern of the owner, manager and staff at all times is the well being of each person within our care.

At Milton Lodge we appreciate that every resident is different so each person has their own person centred plan of care. This plan covers their care needs and also their personal preferences and tastes. The care plan strikes a balance between providing care and support when it’s needed and helping the resident to maintain their independence. Our warm, friendly and homely atmosphere means that our residents can enjoy their daily lives with privacy and dignity in a safe caring environment.

Our highly experienced staff team, many of whom have worked here for several years, comprises the home manager, care assistants, cooks and domestic staff. We have a team of highly qualified and experienced care staff most of whom hold an NVQ2 in Health and Social Care and some hold an NVQ3. The manager holds a NVQ4 in Health and Social Care and is working towards a NVQ5 in Leadership and Management.

To enhance staff competence, the staff attend relevant training courses on a regular basis. We have been awarded the Investor in People award, which demonstrates our commitment to the development of our staff.
