Our care home business is family owned; our first care home was purchased in 2002. The family have extensive experience in the care home market.

In each of our homes we specialise in 24-hour care for no more than 21 elderly ladies and gentlemen in a homely, comfortable and safe environment. We take great pride in providing a high standard of friendly, individual and personal care. Each of our homes are very personal and family orientated catering for residential care of the elderly and offers accommodation to a wide range of ages from the young, 55+ to the young at heart 100+, offering short term holidays, short term and respite care and long-term permanent placements.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who assess the performance of each home on a regular basis, ensuring that we offer good care to the residents of our home. There is a link on our website to our latest CQC report for each home. When the CQC inspect care homes they provide a rating of our care. The current CQC rating is displayed on our website for each of our homes.

Welcome to Headroomgate

Headroomgate is a very personal and family orientated Home in St Annes, Lancashire, catering for residential care of the elderly and offers accommodation to a wide range of ages from the young 55+ to the young at heart 100+, offering short term holidays, short term and respite care and long term permanent placements. Headroomgate is a former Edwardian gentleman’s residence that has been sympathetically converted to create a unique residential Home. Headroomgate was constructed in 1912 and retains many period features including the original rockery in the front garden of the home. Headroomgate was used as a school from the 1950s until 1986 when it closed and became a nursing home. The home is fully equipped to meet the individual needs of its residents, whilst retaining a homely and inviting environment. The home is ideally situated in a quiet residential area 5 minutes from the lively and attractive town centre of St. Annes making it convenient both for the local shops or the promenade. The home is set in its own grounds and has ample parking areas. Offering rooms for just 19 residents, we believe our home is the perfect size; large enough to provide all the facilities and services our residents require, small enough to retain a personal and homely feel. Families and friends play an important role in life at Headroomgate, helping to make the home a real “home” for our residents. We have an open-door policy, meaning residents can have visitors whenever they choose. Making the decision to move to a residential home is never taken lightly. Choosing a home with the facilities and an environment which suits each individual is extremely important, which is why we encourage you to visit the homes and ask us questions.  Some future residents like to come along for a short stay first to see what life at the home is really like. We find this helps them to make the decision, removes the fear of the unknown for them and gives families peace of mind that their loved one is fully involved in decisions about their future home. We invite prospective residents to spend a day with us free of charge before making the final decision.

All meals are carefully planned by our chef to be both nutritious and appetising. A choice of menu is available at each meal and special diets can be catered for. Each meal is freshly prepared using only the finest ingredients. Our menu is both wholesome and varied, providing a well balanced diet.

Tea, coffee and a selection of soft drinks and homemade cakes and biscuits are served at various times throughout the day.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality accommodation and individual care. Great emphasis is placed on the personal independence, dignity and quality of life of each resident. The foremost concern of the owner, manager and staff at all times is the well being of each person within our care.

At Headroomgate we appreciate that every resident is different so each person has their own person centred plan of care. This plan covers their care needs and also their personal preferences and tastes. The care plan strikes a balance between providing care and support when it’s needed and helping the resident to maintain their independence. Our warm, friendly and homely atmosphere means that our residents can enjoy their daily lives with privacy and dignity in a safe caring environment.
